Western casual. SF parent. Mostly transit, housing, bike and ped issues. Pacific weather.
23rd and Balboa had a "sparking" transformer as well. This does not sound like everyday protocol, lol.
The 12th and Balboa transformer blew again. SFFD arrived about 20 minutes ago and then 10 minutes later it blew. Roman candle fire again.
Another power outage in the Richmond. Fun times ...

Thanks, PG&E!

Inherited a 20" Specialized Rock Hopper Comp from the early 90s. Has the OG crankset. Never heard of Shimano's Biopace line and had to look it up.

I wish we didn’t have to fundraise, but we do.

I’m not going to list 2025's accomplishments; if you follow us, you’ve heard all that.

But I will make a bold statement: There is no cause you can support today with broader or more positive impact than parking reform.

Pacifica never lets you down in terms of nature viewing. No whales today but still plenty to see. (always bring binocs!)

Unlike traffic signals, roundabouts don’t require electricity. They can still function well during blackouts.

Just learned the PG&E transformer at 12th & Balboa caught on fire. My god.
Power outage again, in the Richmond. Thanks, PG&E!

They are saying it'll be out until 1:15AM. What a ___ show.

Sort of like how one has to diversify an investment portfolio or risk losing everything all at once, a transportation system that doesn't have a diversity of modes is destined to crash. Building everything around cars, autonomous or otherwise, is always going to lead to this outcome.

The recent power outage was a good stress test to see which SF supervisors actually have a plan to support their most vulnerable constituents.

Let. Me. Tell. You. Many failed miserably.

When expectations around communication are not met, people get frustrated and very pissed off.

Communication from PG&E and my supervisor's office were piss poor and inaccurate.

Shit. Our power just went off and then back on after 5 seconds. Dont play with my emotions, PG&E. (we are very lucky to have power)

As a former engineer who did a lot of ops automation and incident response, I'm pissed that Waymo either had no runbook for a mass power outage, or made massively optimistic assumptions.

This was not competent disaster readiness, and we are lucky it's just a power outage and not an M7 earthquake.
