Of all the pictures I got at VCF, this is still one of my favorite ones... I miss the show so much, I can't wait for later this year

I have an extra 800MHz FSB CPU thankfully! We'll try a Pentium D 828, the Core 2 Duo E8400 definitely isn't going to work in here

Given how dried the paste is and how the system has a Papa Johns magnet on the side, and the back has corrosion - I suspect the CPU might actually be the issue here

This is some of the hardest thermal paste I've ever encountered! The inside of this machine is kinda strange, it's kinda growing on me

It currently has a Pentium Dual Core E2180. Let's see if I have another CPU that will do the trick...

I got this machine at VCF Midwest this year from the free pile, and the fact that I still can't figure out why it's broken is bothering me... let's try to fix it for a drunk NYE activity!

When I tried last I was getting nothing out of the POST card other than good voltages. Let's try a CPU swap

Let's get that new Windows 7 Convenience Rollup Update option tested! @kirb.me

Detour now over... let's get LegacyUpdate going, and I also need to dig up the updates for SUA for Windows 7 again
December 28, 2025 at 4:28 AM
A quick detour... I love using SUA on older systems, especially since I have copies from the GNU utility set from 2023 that works on 2000 and later with SUA!

You know me too well... I'm using the latest CI LMFAO

3D Acceleration in VirtualBox is really cool, it's been forever since I've used it in this context but getting Aero is COOL!

The last time I installed Windows 7 was on a machine that we bought at VCF after the Mac we brought suddenly died at the show...

now I'm installing it to try getting AutoCAD 2008 running to do some conversions! It's been a hot minute but we're approaching a new release at @legacyupdate.net too :)

One of the most incredible shots I've ever gotten, in Yellowstone. This coyote walked over a ridge in the blowing snow and posed for me, with a small grin on its face, the snowfalkes like stars in the background.

The desolation and beauty of life and nature is grounding, and so good for the soul.
