Tonight at 10, the Washington Capitals take on the Vancouver Canucks, losers of their last eleven as they finally enter a rebuild. By far the worst team in the NHL, losing to them could be the kind of embarrassment that gets people fired and forces roster moves. Maybe not all bad, then. #ALLCAPS

The Washington Capitals lose the most obvious loss of all time, 5-2, to the Colorado Avalanche. It's worse than it should have been because the Caps actually played a really good game for two periods. Seeing that solid 40 was nice, though. 🧵 #ALLCAPS

We thought MacKinnon found Makar to put the Avalanche up two here, but Washington actually had a successful challenge for GI, thanks to Nečas in front. This does NOT count, and it's still a one-goal game. #ALLCAPS

The Caps are still hanging in there and doing an uncharacteristic number of good things. The Avalanche lead 3-2, and it still feels like anyone's game. If it goes to overtime, it might even favor Washington, believe it or not. It'll come down to if they can stay disciplined and consistent. #ALLCAPS

I'm shocked to not hate that period at all, and to see the Caps and Avs tied at one. Up and down power play, but three chances and one hit is nice. Good play in either end. Very healthy shot and attempt volume. Expecting a COL PPG or two soon from dumb penalties + make-even calls. #ALLCAPS

Looks like Justin Sourdif is off IR, which would indicate he might be playing today. Tom Wilson, who I think we expected back sooner, is still out as of now. #ALLCAPS

Five-ish hours until the Washington Capitals take on the Colorado Avalanche. The next four games are 9 or 10 PM starts, so savor this one. But also, today's game is against by far the best team in the league, so there may not be much to savor. #ALLCAPS

Late-ish thread but I dunno who's checking for commentary after that anyway. Might end up being less about the game and more about the season so far. The Washington Capitals fell 5-2 to the Florida Panthers on another night where frustration is the name of the game. 🧵 #ALLCAPS

The Capitals remembered how to shoot, and it got them some goals but no smaller a deficit. The Panthers lead 3-2 and are still pushing Washington around, but at least getting pushed back more now. #ALLCAPS

Not an ideal first period, but not as bad as it could have been. The SOG sitting at 14-4 is unacceptable and a result of Washington being unable to establish good zone time or shoot at the net. They're getting bullied off the puck, too. Fix one of those and the game might look different. #ALLCAPS
