The Washington Capitals played another complete game, actually looked better than their opponent on special teams, and beat the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1, snapping their win streak and bringing themselves back above .500. #ALLCAPS

Chychrun heads to the box exclaiming "Un-fucking-believable." It's very believable, both that a Cap would take a dumb late game penalty and that a ref would call it. Gotta love making it as hard on yourselves as possible. #ALLCAPS

Goal number 100 from Chychrun puts the Caps back out in front by two. And on the power play no less. This is just a straight up good game all around (so far) which we are very much not used to seeing. #ALLCAPS

The Capitals play another good period, the Canes do their best to respond, and both come away with a goal. It's 2-1 heading into the third, and I think this game is still all Washington's to lose. #ALLCAPS

Chisholm and Chychrun (fun name combo) bump into and disrupt each other's defense (not fun), and Nik Ehlers comes in to score when LT can't do anything about it. The two-goal lead becomes a 2-1 close game just like that. #ALLCAPS

Washington played a great first period and come out of it up 1-0 on Carolina. Both teams got two scoreless power plays, but the Caps had the better special teams, for the first time in maybe forever. Things are going pretty well and they just need to keep it clean and keep it moving. #ALLCAPS

A melee I was hoping wouldn't break out tonight but of course did. Thompson and Andersen almost went too, which would have at least been awesome, but the refs suck so not only was that killed but the Canes go on the power play after causing and escalating everything. #ALLCAPS

The Capitals are closer to home, but still in hostile territory, as at 7 PM they match up with the Hurricanes in Carolina. The Canes are more injured, but they've won their last four. Washington is gonna need to channel that perseverance if they want a chance against a top team in the East. #ALLCAPS

Pierre-Luc Dubois had surgery on Friday to address injuries to his abdominal and adductor muscles, the Caps announced this morning. He’s expected to miss three to four months.

McDonagh not coming back tonight
Not only did the Lightning come into this one down Cirelli and Crozier, but so far they've lost Ryan McDonagh for now and Dominic James for a while (he's back now). Rough going for the Bolts.

One period down in Benchmark International Arena (what a mouthful), and the Capitals are down to the Lightning. The 2-1 score is pretty representative of the game so far. Been close, well-played on both sides for the most part, but Tampa's special teams put them up. #ALLCAPS
