Thanks to NWO that will fund one year of research into whether romantic polarization is making Gen Z’s love life a bit more interesting. Sometimes it works, friends.
A bunch more interesting projects funded here: www.nwo.nl/nieuws/van-s...

american masculinity is so amazing. caring about clothes as a man apparently makes you "gay" but our position on geopolitics totally depends on whether you wear a suit

A couple of thoughts on the TikTok ban from someone who started studying social media when “friending” was an actual verb, go figure.

My main response to the Vulture article, other than nausea, is remembering how when I was an impromptu interpreter in the 00s, my parasocial idol - writer Joe Lansdale - was kind, impeccable about boundaries, and exactly the person I thought he’d be. I think that’s still true for most people.

New CDC data is out on youth mental health. Unsurprisingly, the biggest issues have nothing to do with social media. If only we could actually convince policymakers to invest in the actual problems that youth face. For a great topline look at the new data, see: www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/open...
Why the latest CDC teen mental health report is a politically inconvenient bombshell for crusading California pols
The report reveals that teens’ use of social media is more complicated than the simplistic campaigns to restrict access recognize.

Anyway my parenting superpower is that I can turn almost anything into a treat. You would think this is a delicious tray of oatmeal cookies - and yet they contain enough protein to feed a bodybuilder.
