I've heard from people in other cities "I'd like to see them try that in __!"

No. No, you wouldn't.

We have guns pointed in our faces in MN. I think you'd change your tune if this was happening to you, your family & your neighbors.

Nobody knows EXACTLY how to do this. This is NEW to all of US.

as someone who pushes hard against conspiratorial thinking in my professional and political life, it is deeply irritating when, on top of the untold human harms Epstein caused, it turns out he was at the center of at least half a dozen actual conspiracies

Minneapolis Police find redemption in a grim irony: they appear "reasonable" compared to the aggression of 3,000 federal agents six years post-Floyd. Chief O’Hara’s force now threads a dangerous needle, distancing itself from the federal crackdown to protect fragile community trust.
The Minneapolis police chief tried to repair his force. Can it survive ICE?
Brian O’Hara worries that gains his department made since George Floyd’s murder are at risk amid an immigration crackdown that has enraged the city.

The only thing more repulsive than the Epstein files is the unlikelihood that anybody will be brought to justice.

Well, it happens they were doing exactly that.

Reminder about "They're here ILLEGALLY"

Being undocumented is a civil offense, not a criminal one. That's why they're not entitled to a court-appointed lawyer, why it's "civil detention" not a jail, why it's not in the criminal code, etc. Other civil infractions are things like parking tickets.

I'm not sure which is worse, not having the Epstein files released, or seeing half of them released and watching as the GOP continue to support him.

it has been clear for months
I gave a campus talk last night on Trump's first 100 days for the WUD Society & Politics group. A student asked me if I thought that, at some point, we might start to describe the US as a competitive authoritarian regime. I said that we were already there, it's just that most folks haven't noticed:
