The “overdiagnosis” debate also distracts from a harder reality in SEND:

the children, young people, carers and families who most need SEND provision are often the least likely to get it.

What Betty says. 💪
"You shouldn't be getting a medal for being robbed by your own government."

Betty Brown 92, the oldest surviving victim of the Post Office Scam was outraged about being in the New Year Honours List.

We want compensation and prison sentences not worthless medals.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

This is why I now say "lower income people/areas " and not "working class people/areas."" I've learned to look much closer at the language and the system, which separates us into the Caste System. Work to undo this programming.

Listening to @rogerhallam.com and Ash Sarkar @novaramedia.com sharpened something I’ve been thinking about for a while. Britain’s democratic problem starts before the ballot box — its in our failure to update the story of who counts, who contributes, or who gets to speak. @zackpolanski.bsky.social

georgemonbiot.bsky.social knows that journalism “speaks with the voice of power” which is why bylinestimes.bsky.social matters.

In my latest piece, I ask: if even high earners feel cut off from politics, whose voices are treated as speaking for Britain?

kentandsurreybylines.co.uk/politics/dem...
"The Bylines Network is tremendously inspiring…it's crucial that journalism speaks truth to power, but the great majority of it unfortunately speaks with the voice of power…it’s really inspiring to see networks like yours filling that huge gap and doing what journalism ought to do.”

That is it.

And one day he will be made to answer for his role in drowning Gaza in oceans of blood.

👏 @mlorimer.bsky.social reminding politicians that they still have agency: “get to the [voters] who don’t ..have a problem with migrants .. but who are worried about public services ..You’re going to solve that by putting more money into public services rather than by trying to stop the boats.”

The cowardly disgrace and amoral sham of leadership that puts this law in place and yet looks the other way at Israel’s genocidal acts. Shame on the entire front bench of this government.
