Former video game media guy (The AV Club, Gameological); current boring regular guy posting mostly about games, wrestling, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Thunder can talk about “0 and 0” and and playing every game the same all they want, but they CLEARLY have approached Golden State and the Lakers with a different energy. Part of it is playing at home and feeding off the crowd, I’m sure, but the difference in intensity is undeniable.

I’m gonna go ahead and put this out into the universe: I would love to see OKC send Dieng and a couple of seconds to Boston for Jordan Walsh before the trade deadline.

I feel like this is the first game where the Thunder are finally starting to show some real, prolonged flashes of their fully realized offense. And it’s a thing of beauty.

Welp. I’m not gonna lie, I had this one circled as the first loss for a while, mostly due to the schedule and travel. But still a tough loss for OKC, considering how they started and how hard they fought. They blew all their energy on a hot start and were ultimately too tired and too undermanned.

Are these refs on this OKC-Portland game being paid per whistle or something? It’s a sloppy game with lots of contact, but lord almighty, let some of these go.

Shocking and sad news from Sam Presti at Thunder practice today: Nikola Topic is in treatment for testicular cancer and has begun chemotherapy. Sam says doctors are “extremely positive” about his outlook and ability to return to basketball.

This brutal opening run to OKC’s season has convinced me that people are somehow still sleeping on JDub’s defensive impact. His size and physicality covers up sooooo many cracks in the team’s defense.
