Last week, I had the honour of attending an event with many of gaming's top actors. You'll find out what the event was for in the near future, and I'll have another larger report from it, but I also used it as an opportunity to discuss the many injustices video game actors still face.

I also spoke to the legendary Jennifer Hale, who told me in the last few weeks, she was offered less for an appearance at a convention than her male counterparts.

She also discussed the money corporations are leaving behind by not hiring game actors for film and TV.

My review of The Outer Worlds 2! I adored it, but had a lot to say about how I feel Obsidian needs to be more earnest. The best moments are when the writing takes the setting and themes seriously www.thegamer.com/the-outer-wo...
The Outer Worlds 2 Review - Shoots For The Moon, Lands Among The Stars
The Outer Worlds 2 improves on the original in every way and is Obsidian's most reactive RPG yet - but I wish it took itself more seriously.

Several of my colleagues were laid off today, and seeing the usual reaction from the usual people pushed me to write a blog post (how retro) about the sad state of online discourse: jackcrustycoleman.com/2025/10/22/l...
Layoffs, Empathy and Blind Hatred
An unfortunate state of affairs.

Incredibly jealous of whoever gets to work with Eric next, one of the most passionate writers I'm lucky enough to call a friend
After 6 years with TheGamer, Valnet has decided to shut down features and lay off the entire team, including me.

I don't know what's next for me but I intend to stay in games, whether that's at another outlet, consulting, or PR. If you have any leads, I'd appreciate any help

In light of being laid off from TheGamer today, I don't intend to let my passions die out. I'll continue to create work independently, and keep that excitement for whatever opportunities come my way in the future.

This was a dream career, and I'm not done with it yet.

Don't really know what to add to this that hasn't been said better, but absolutely gutted to lose so many talented writers and friends today
Valnet unfortunately let go of the entire TheGamer features team today alongside several other staff members.

Many incredibly talented and hard working writers I've had the pleasure of working with over the past several years.

Unfortunately, my time as an Editor for TheGamer.com has come to an end.

I met some of the best coworkers I've ever had there, I learned and grew a lot.

If anyone is looking for a journo, especially for guides, reviews, VR, horror, and farming RPGs, I'd love to hear from you.

TheGamer is losing so much talent today, it breaks my heart. On a personal and professional level, I cannot put the loss into words.

Everyone being laid off today is incredible and would be an asset to your team. They have jumped through more hoops than you can imagine. Hire them!

I see games media old guard are doing the “let’s shit on the newer folks rather than offering to support them” thing again. I’m tired. As if there’s not enough aggression towards us from audiences.

Dying Light 2 was one of the first games I properly guided for TheGamer, so it’s very cool to have the chance to review Dying Light: The Beast. It’s not as ambitious as the last game, but that definitely helps it in the long run. My review: www.thegamer.com/dying-light-...
