Geysers don't have to be big to be important!
"Thumping Hole" appears as a inconspicuous opening in the sinter gravel a few feet from Spasmodic Geyser, but it's eruptions are a good indicator for where energy and water is flowing in the group. Sometimes leading to rare eruptions of others.

Did you know geysers cycle together? One of the most dynamic and interconnected group of features in Yellowstone is the Sawmill Complex between Grand and Castle Geysers in the Upper Geyser Basin. In September, 2024 I Spent 8 hours logging water levels of several features. Here's the chart! 1/?

One of the best parts of where I work is we are one of the best locations in Arizona to view White-nosed Coatis! They have been very active for the past week, such fascinating critters.
