No Rest for the Wicked = sleeper hit. Deeper than any Diablo, it's got all the Souls-like dreary/cozy vibes, extremely rich character cinematics, amazing art style, petting dogs and cats, and the combat is super punchy.

Incredible. I would've looked right over it without the co-op+free weekend.

Real booms don't need artificial adoption to grow. Nobody needed to be forced to start wanting lightbulbs in their homes because they actually solved problems people wanted solved.

This is technically abuse of the bug report system. But you're welcome.

Always good to remind yourself that a government can make anything legal. Asking "was this legal?" is for sure the wrong question.

There's some extremely mechanical with how they're all talking about the game. I swear the old Bungie vidocs used to describe things less in terms of "video game mechanics."

Rubs me the wrong way.

Game looks good, though!
We’re embracing the dark sci-fi world and survival extraction challenge of Marathon.

Oh, nevermind he's out of VOIP range."

I lived off a partner for years - essentially - while working on Unfortunate Spacemen. It makes getting up in front of a crowd and talking about "my journey to success" feel priviledged and fake.

But it's common and there is often no other option. Support structures matter, make sure you have one.
Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"

The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on

As I review game designer applications I can only ask game designers to do one thing: plz design games.

Don't design "experiences" (whatever that means), don't just design board games, don't only design card games.

Just make sure you actually design video games. For the video game design role.
