I've lived in lots of houses, lots of places, but I don't think I've ever lived in a detached house - no neighbours. I'm only just coming to terms with how loud I can crank up the music when I'm here alone, it's curiously effective at rolling back the years, and at 70 that's something of a blessing.

Things I saw from the highway today:

Mist rising from irrigation canals

The new sun like a furious eye between lids of cloud

A crow perched on a warning sign, indifferent to what it might portend

A white egret in a ditch

Two dark coyotes trotting across a sunrise pasture
Golden early sun on a line of low grass hills, under a blanket of low grey cloud. Bright golden sunrise and a band of butter-yellow sky under a thick bank of grey clouds.
