Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 95th day out of the last 107.

12 days of work in 107 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

Kendrick Lamar: I'd never seen or heard him, knew nothing about him and Drake. Everything in his show came at me without context.

But, dang, what a show! That was a lot of fun to watch, and I got just enough background to know I need to learn more.

At this point, shouldn't Trump just come out wearing a swastika armband? You know he wants to.

Just putting this out there so I can look super smart in a week: it's gonna be Harris by a surprising margin. Landslide-esque. Hyuuuuge.

“A larger-than-life folk tale set in an alternate universe version of the present where issues of exile, belonging, identity, nationality, freedom, and destiny are examined through a funhouse mirror that render them opaque and recognizable all at once”

#Book blurbs from my library:

“{Author}’s stories are alive, rich with humor and unpredictable but ultimately credible turns, keenly observed, and told with a savvy narrative drive. One can feel in them the love on the part of the author for the strange, the grotesque, the eccentric . . . 🧵

I dunno, man . . . I think that kind of blurb would seal the deal for me.
Man, blurbs are so hard to write.

If I were trying to convince a friend to read this book I'd say something like "the characters are demented and the story refuses to spoonfeed you"

but this is absolutely not something you could slap on the side of a novel

“Like Kafka hosting Saturday Night Live, {Author} mixes humor with existential dread . . . {Author}’s characters, driven by yearning and obsession, not only get in trouble but seek trouble out - to spectacular effect.”

I flew to Brazil once for business, 'way back when the world was young. Economy, middle seat for the return leg to Miami.

When I told the exec who had sent me what a LOOONG flight that was, he said "you didn't know we have a policy that business class is allowed for flights over 5 hours?"
I have a rule that when my travel involves an ocean, I fly business. For most domestic flights, premium economy is as high as I go. I'm a small guy and I don't drink alcohol, so the delights of domestic business class are muted at best for me.
