When I was fifteen, I didn’t have the words to describe being nonbinary. I cobbled together whatever labels I could find to try and describe who I was. The core point was that I wanted to explore my masculinity.

I was recently reminded of the importance of just being visible as a queer person, so I put a trans pin on the neck strap I use when playing saxophone at church. It makes me feel [unreasonably?] vulnerable but, if even one queer person sees that there is a place for them, it will be worth it.
