It's kinda incredible how the drive behind new adult Western cartoons in the last decade or so has been dominated by the Tumblr influence. I would've expected more Japanese influence, but most of that is just surface level references, while the core is a solid chunk of Tumblr.

Telecom was the studio behind several Lupin The Third productions, like Miyazaki's Castle of Cagliostro or Koike's Lupin the IIIRD series, and many international co-productions, like Little Nemo and Sherlock Hound. It also animated many episodes of US cartoons like Animaniacs and Batman TAS.

The studio was founded in 1975 by Yutaka Fujioka, TMS' president at the time, to produce high quality animation. It soon became the "home" of Yasuo Ōtsuka, a legend of the industry, that not only worked as an animator for Telecom but also supervised and trained a new generation of animators.
