Police officers in Scotland are appealing to MSPs to have access to guns while on duty...

This is a terrible idea, not just because of what's happening in America, but because of what is happening here. 🧵

For those who are interested in criminology and the evolution of Glasgow’s 'gang culture' (not a concept I particularly like mind you), Small Faces (1996) is essential viewing. 🧵

A snippet of my thesis around the socialisation of harm embodied by moral enforcers.

Glasgow to USA, and across the world, such relations develop as a consequence of the same class antagonism.

If you see it once, you will never stop seeing it. The curse and the blessing of class consciousness.

Is it a coincidence that the US Proud Boys suddenly disappeared as soon as Trump started to employ his ICE paramilitaries?

Last night, Trump's America bombed Caracas, Venezuela.

This is a horrific act of war that signals wider problems globally. For anyone who doesn't know, Venezuela are a strategic ally of China. Such acts of aggression will, therefore, not be met well in Beijing.

More to follow.

In 2025, I got an amazing new job, moved country, and became a Dr (surreal). However, a lot of it was overshadowed with so much bad news.

So, for 2026, I wish you all the greatest of health and happiness. My resolution is to booze less, and help people more.

All the best my friends. ❤️

Merry Xmas, my pals. Hope you all had a belter. ❤️

I spent the day cooking individual beef wellingtons for the fam then watched Never Ending Story with the weans. A message in there that's as important as it ever was I feel.

Anyway, a lovely day, but think I'll skip cooking next year. 😆

Such kind messages at what is usually such a difficult time of the year too. Means so much.

Hope you all have a lovely Xmas ❤️

Lola McEvoy recently announced that she would like to "ban the balaclavas linked to anti-social behaviour".

Just two decades ago it was hoods and baseball caps. It's almost as if the aesthetic is nothing to do with the behaviour.

How about banning the poverty linked with anti-social behaviour?

Ultras the other night:

"Choose Life, Ditch the Knife"

This is the kind of messages we are seeing across a lot of the Ultras groups, and it shows how conscious young working-class boys and girls are of their conditions. 🧵

Worst flu I've had for a while. Looking after yourself out there, and if you're feeling unwell, keep away from elderly and vulnerable, is this one has a bit of a kick. ✌️

The thesis itself, all going well this month, will hopefully be available soon enough. Still working on the book proposal too!
