Achieving similar (or greater?) crop yield with less mineral fertiliser and pesticides? this new paper proposes a useful framework – with examples - to quantify the contribution of ecosystem services.
In a new paper, we propose the 'ecological yield gap' as a framework to strengthen collaboration between agronomists and ecologists in our quest to enhance on-farm ecosystem services in ways that effectively sustain crop yields while minimising input use:

The #EU Deforestation & Forest Degradation Regulation is due to come into force in 2026. It will ban products made using raw materials from deforested areas on the EU market.
To this end, research needs to come up with indicators to differentiate between preserved & degraded forests.
