Das haben @juliogarbers.bsky.social, @gathmannch.bsky.social und @felixstips.bsky.social gemessen.

Und sie haben auch Ideen, wie der Saldo noch besser werden kann ⤵️

💥 New: Italy’s citizenship referendum is a chance to align the country with the rest of Europe

Italy’s citizenship referendum is a chance to align with the rest of Europe
Italian citizens will vote on 8-9 June on a proposal to reduce the number of years a non-EU national must live in Italy before they can seek citizenship.

Academic studies consistently show that access to citizenship has positive effects. Immigrants who become citizens experience lower unemployment, earn higher income, less likely to be overqualified for jobs & experience stronger sense of belonging

Trump may well achieve his goal of reducing the US trade deficit, but via the worst possible way: engineering recession at home and removing America’s and USD’s status as trusted safe haven. It would be a poorer, hostile nation but with trade surplus. Sort of like Russia. Some win.

Sad to hear about the passing of Beat Blankart - he was at #HUBerlin when I did my diploma and initiated my interest in political economy! In the advisory board of @BMWK_Econ, he was a warning voice against a naive belief in state interventions. He will be remembered!
