Construction of the Hudson Tunnel Project will be suspended today if disbursements of federal funding obligated to the project do not resume.

We’ve already put more than $1 billion and countless hours into construction of the Hudson Tunnel Project. We have active construction sites across New York and New Jersey, and we’re ready to start tunnel boring. Funding must be restored now so we can keep building.

Stopping construction of the Hudson Tunnel Project will hurt our regional and national economy. An extended construction pause would put nearly 100,000 total jobs at risk.

Nearly 1,000 workers will lose their jobs immediately when construction of the Hudson Tunnel Project pauses tomorrow, and an extended pause will put many more jobs at risk.

Funding must be restored ASAP so these hardworking men and women can get back to work.

I visited the Tonnelle Ave project site today where I could see all the tunnel boring machine parts scattered around, collecting snow, waiting to be assembled.

A pause in construction will have huge consequences for this $16B tunnel program.

My story 👇
As suits try to restore $16B Gateway tunnel project, work winds down
It could cost $20 million a month to wind the Gateway project down and secure the sites. If restored, finding skilled workers again could be hard.

Unless Pres. Trump releases the already appropriated funds, Gateway will shut down in 2 days, halting the nation's largest, most critical #infrastructure project.

If the existing Hudson Tunnel fails, we risk completely hobbling a rail connection that "produces 10% of the country's economic output and is used by 200,000 travelers daily."

We need the federal government to release funding for the Gateway Program ASAP

Things like this prove how vital a second operating tunnel is for our region. We need the Gateway Program.

Delays like this will become more frequent - and impact more riders - the longer we rely on the North River Tunnel. We need to complete the Hudson Tunnel Project as soon as possible to deliver reliable, modern rail infrastructure that riders can count on.
