To say "Minecraft isn't primarily an exploration game" only makes it more impressive how exceptional it is in that area. Autistic, and also a Helper on the Mojira bug tracker. he/him

oh yeah I made the darkness in the deep dark, be darker, to really suit the name

Left is the deep dark, right is the same area but I replaced the biome with the generic caves one

While not super crazy darker, it does add to the atmosphere

ppls critiques nf criticisms of minecraft 90% of the time are more about ppls personal preferences than the actual game, like there are issues with it but ive never noticed a "progression problem" or "exploration problem"

Does Hypixel Studios even gather feedback about Hytale on this site like Mojang does for Minecraft? Honestly, I don't mind that much either way because of a sneaking suspicion that certain people won't take any criticism of the game on more mainstream platforms.

Yeah that's why I was suggesting a random attribute system to encourage engaging with earlier zones materials. Rather than just treating them as junk items.

I've seen some modpacks do this in Minecraft and it seems to work well for voluntary re-engagement with the linear progression of things

Dungeons & Taverns both fixing vanilla mineshafts and the bunker structure no longer getting glitched in rivers? We're eating good this year! #Minecraft #Mods

I think it’s fine if they don’t add it but I don’t like how the reasoning wasn’t really clear and it seems like there was miscommunication at Mojang about it

another poke at hytale, but boy you guys need actual generated decorations, not just props
Is very evident here how this rock/mountain formations are just prefabs

one to one the same arrangement of blocks, also this is how all props around the world works

what if xp cost in an enchanting table scaled by material? like how you can get better enchants using certain materials, wood, stone and gold could be pretty cheap while higher tool tiers could be more expensive, this could make early game enchanting a little bit easier and more useful

So Mojang's position on vertical slabs wasn't "we want the players to work around restrictions" but rather hearing it once, then later pretending the suggestion didn't even exist for over a decade despite being constantly and rigorously suggested since the very beginning? Am I hearing that right?

One thing I've noticed about Hytale is that aside from each subsequent zone having some higher tier resources, and zones are pretty vast, everything comes from everything, and all that everything is equally required for everything through the entire game.

And when I say this fits Minecraft more, I could elaborate and say add more upgrade materials to diamond than just netherite for more sidegrades. It would just be neat.
The idea of making Hytale's generic gear have slightly altered attributes and gimmicks as THE solution to "encourage more playstyles" seems to fit Minecraft more than Hytale.

Why not implement new specialized weapons and armor that synergize together for unique playstyles?

Hey @jebox.bsky.social, do you ever go back and play older versions of Minecraft? (for any reason, whether it be nostalgia or curiosity)

Also fun fact: Minecraft 1.9 (the Combat Update) will turn 10 years old in a just a little over a month from now 😮

Stop pushing these misinformed stigmas upon autistics.

Autism isn't isn't the reason Musk is a hate-spewing horror.

It's not because Musk is #autistic that he's using Twitter to serve his fascist, far-right purposes. It has nothing to do with autism.

Many (possibly most?) of us are on the left.
It’s official

X is a breeding ground for alt right incels to spread racist hate rhetoric while the algo forces real info into the depths of hell.

Glad we let the most socially awkward autistic person in the world have a trillion dollars and run a major social platform.

Perhaps we have misunderstood trorks. While we're stuck mistaking 2 week old roadkill for a steak tenderloin, trorks have actually bothered to distinguish between different meats, an elusive knowledge that can only be comprehended by glancing at some of their loot tables. #Hytale

What do you think about durability in Hytale as a system?

I think for a future archeology update it’d be awesome to add a lot more pot customization especially since it can fit the vibe of certain structures/builds better if you decided you want to use pots

After playing Hytale last night, I don't understand the hype. I lived through the minecraft like clones of the 2010's and it doesn't feel any different to something like Creativerse, which is an okay game. Hytale has the potential to be good, but right now it's just okay.

Honestly hope that whenever they do add the villager trade rebalance, it’ll come with a change to repairing to at least remove the too expensive limit or make the anvil costs reasonable

Agreed, I can’t wait for the glider when they officially add it as well I hope they give us more when it comes to movement options especially based specifically on the character, if more parkour movements could be added like wall jumping I imagine it’d be a lot of fun getting around

After playing Hytale's exploration mode for a bit (up to gathering Zone 2's resources), I have quite a few thoughts. There are too many to summarize in a bunch of posts, so I'm going to do an AMA.

Ask me anything about Hytale's exploration mode. (It must be about exploration mode.)
January 14, 2026 at 9:20 PM
I'd argue even Hytale's imminent updates won't be representative of the typical Hytale update, you know, because the game is in early access. And that also comes with the asterisk that entire metas could vanish overnight until the game is officially released.
This is such a lame sentiment especially when the game hasn’t even had an update yet lmao, it sure will be annoying to hear these comparisons between these games and their respective updates, especially since they’re both doing different things

This is not helpful to the conversation.

honestly I think hytale and minecraft have a similar base but they're wildly different games, there is definitely some overlap but they're designed with different things in mind and that's okay. I'm excited to see the future of Hytale and I hope both games inspire each other too
