Midwest Nice has its limits.

That queasy feeling is telling us to do something.
1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵
We need to talk about the people making money off of this. Who is the board at CoreCivic? What is their pay? How many yachts do they own?
There needs to be a public shaming.
He got out after 3 months in an ICE gulag.
My electrician is a green card holder who's been here since he was a kid. He got married to a citizen, applied for citizenship, went to court for the papers and when he got there ICE kidnapped him and he's been locked up for a month.

Context: Its a former golf course (reputed Trumper owner) bought by conservation nonprofit and being restored to wetland. Open for public use. Stunningly gorgeous.

One of the most miserable things about living in this era is having to watch the stupidest & most arrogant people in the world have to relearn The Why of literally everything good that we collectively do the hard way.

The answer is always ‘Because a bunch of people died, fuckwit.’

Where’s @warren.senate.gov ? I guess this PSA wasn’t consultant-approved.

So tired of these @warren.senate.gov posts. The world is on fire yet post after post is this bland “the Republicans wrecked the economy” content.
We know.
Meanwhile, every day is a new human rights atrocity coated in jaw dropping racism. Anything to say about that?
You may not know this, but if you're under the age of 60, Social Security is essentially insurance for you.

What are they going to do about it? Because apologizing is not enough. Until they are attending the protests, participating in boycotts, calling their senators and rep, doing the know-your-rights training and, most importantly, looking inward, I do not care.

Case in point:
They can’t conceptualize empathy and therefore cannot comprehend or anticipate the public’s response. Without that, they cannot predict the political blow back. The sociopaths are operating in the dark.
They’re trying to run the Kilmar Abrego Garcia playbook with a five year old boy in a bunny hat because nobody can find peace if they embarrass the Trump administration publicly. Normal people didn’t like it with Garcia and they really aren’t going to like it for Liam.
BREAKING: The federal government has filed a motion seeking to end asylum claims for the family of Liam Conejo Ramos, according to the lawyer representing the family.

100% this.
Directly from Gene Sharp’s manual.
“We put him in a lose-lose situation,” the Minnesota woman says. “He could’ve kept talking and we would make fun of his voice, or he shuts up and we looked like we shut him down."

It is your patriotic duty to mock these people. Mercilessly.
The power of mocking Trump’s pathetic monsters
It's impossible to ignore the administration's blend of violent repression and overwhelming cringe.

Empathy. Sociopaths don’t have it, can’t imagine it, can’t fake it and therefore can’t anticipate it. It’s their Achilles heel.
