Hey, Toronto!

After 19 long years, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT is finally open! While there’s cause to celebrate, we can’t forget just how drawn out and expensive this process was. The only way forward is full accountability from the provincial government.

Last year at @maxbellschool.bsky.social, my team and I proposed a Youth Employment Supplement. Today it’s in Policy Options thanks to @scpartners.bsky.social. Half of young renters spend 50% of income on rent. Our proposal would reach 2M young Canadians.

How a youth employment supplement could help young Canadians
A youth employment supplement to the Canada Workers Benefit could help young Canadians facing housing costs, debt and weak job prospects.

Why are we designing homes near transit around the needs of the minority who own cars?

Parking minimums raise rent and raise emissions.
The Cheng and Saxe motions CARRY via show of hands. The visitor parking report CARRIES 20-0. More reporting to come. The parking debates will continue until we all feel less lonely.

The TTC’s new fare cap is a good start. But it leaves out students, some of the people who need it most.

I’m fighting for more affordable public transit. Join our movement using the link in my bio!

Wrapping up my time as a policy advisor at City Hall. Grateful for the experience, and I’m ready to put that knowledge to use. Stay tuned!

A year since I argued climate advocates need to focus on quality of life improvements, shortly after the axing of the carbon tax. At the municipal level, climate policy is affordability policy: Transit investment, gentle density, shared space. These cut emissions AND lower costs.

Largest snowfall in Toronto in nearly a century. This is what the infrastructure costs of climate change look like: transit delays, impassable roads, overwhelmed systems.

Haven't been on Bluesky much, but I've started a Movember fundraiser for Native Men's Residence. A small donation can go a long way for providing shelter to Indigenous men in Toronto.

Posting on Twitter has gotten me nowhere... I bet you'll be more generous 🥸
