The unitard (or bodysuit, it covers everything except his tail, paws, and head) is pink with orange stripes on one side and a black and white diamond pattern on the other, with the sides reversed on the sleeves (so like, the side that's pink on the main portion has a black and white sleeve, and vice versa). The feet of this unitard have long, pointed, floppy tips of excess fabric with orange pompoms at the ends. The jester's cap also has three pompoms on either point, and 3 little orange buttons on the neck portion. The cat has green eyes and is very dark brown with lighter stripes on it's face, and a fur pattern that makes him (and the client's friend's real cat that this guy was based on) look like a sad clown, but in this image he's smiling. the ribbon on his ribbon baton is the same dark green as his caplet, and the butterfly is black and yellow with stars on its wings.

Wanted to share this unused cover for John Le Carre's THE CIRCUS: LOSING CONTROL.

I wanted to evoke the look of older spy novels while creating a little intrigue and standing out on the shelf a bit. This one made it all the way thru to finished but the licensor had a change of heart (it happens!)
