Friends of the Irish Environment (FIE) are an environmental NGO taking the government to court over their Climate Action plan being insufficient to meet Ireland's emission targets. Some background to this case will be discussed in From the Roots first episode on September 25th.

The first breeding pair of opsreys in Ireland for over 200 years have produced two, possibly three chicks, according the the Ulster Wildlife Trust. The pair restablished naturally in Fermanagh two years ago.

The common crane is thought to have gone regionally extinct in Ireland when the species stopped visiting to breed in Irish wetlands. The chick hatched on a former commercial bog is only the second to fledge here since the project began.
