I'm getting tired of the constant high alert of staying informed these days. Which makes me wonder, if I'm tired, how must the average American feel? How can we combat the negativity and alarmism to stay strong?

Thought for today: I love the energy we're putting into counter arguments here on the left. But, maybe we should focus instead on positive points. Counter-arguments only help us vent steam to each other (on this app and others).

Years ago, after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, I interviewed a former fb employee, and I remember her continually emphasizing that these tech bros weren't evil geniuses, but were, in fact, dangerous because they were utterly clueless, totally reckless, and had too much power.

T4T: I wish I could get a speaker to this whole country to say one thing: you deserve so much better. Your government should care for you. As a Fed, I always will.

This is just one of thousands of harrowing stories told about the U.S. Government abandoning Americans abroad in the USAID shutdown. This is Benghazi times a million. 1/

Thought for today (T4T): No one is going to save us. It's up to all of us to take a stand and claim our country.

Thought of today: As a reminder, the US is built on the principle that the people hold the power. We must act that way.

Approximately 20 members of Elon Musk’s staff have begun working within the Education Department. They have gained access to multiple sensitive internal systems, including a financial aid dataset containing the personal information of millions of students enrolled in the federal student aid program.

Thought for today: Compassion goes far. How can we return to sharing it, instead of blame and hate?

Thought for today: can we stop trying to pretend FOTUS and his goons care about morality? They are all rapists and white supremacists, we know, and they know, and Republican voters know.

So how do we actually stop them?

⚠️🚨 FEDERAL WORKERS 🚨⚠️

Time is limited to respond if you have been affected by the DEIA memo or other recent actions.

You have ➡️15 DAYS⬅️ from the incident to file an initial informal grievance.

Here’s how:
Time sensitive: we've created a generic informal grievance template. Always defer to your collective bargaining unit. This isn't legal advice, just a recommendation based on personal experience. www.muellershewrote.com/p/informal-g...
Informal Grievance Template for Adverse Personnel Actions
There is a limited amount of time to oppose personnel actions. Time is short.

It has been yet another interesting week as a fed. Today, at least, there was some evidence that the legal system works.

Thought for today: 18 U.S.C. 115 specifies at least a fine, and possibly imprisonment up to 20 years, for threats against federal officials. What happens when those threats come from the president? www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...

2/2 my agency, and many, work on a reimbursement basis. But under law, when the agency has obligated funding, we have committed to paying that funding to a state or grant recipient. We legally can't say, "hey, we'll give you this money" and then not.

Thought for today: 1/2 It's important to understand how federal funding works. Typically, Federal agencies are "authorized" to spend funding by congressional action (e.g. a budget bill). Each agency then works to "obligate" funding, which means the agency commits to it.
