We are an all volunteer group of grassroots activists working on the campaign for free, safe, legal, local abortions on the island of Ireland.

It's important to collect data to catch the many failings of the legislation: how many are forced to travel, how often the pills fail, post termination infections etc. Hopefully now the government will have to address the issues with the implementation of the legislation.

7 years ago, we voted to remove the 8th amendment from the Constitution. This allows the government to create legislation regulating abortion provision.

Since then we've had Marie O’Shea’s review recommendations published, but not implemented.

On this day 7 years ago, the Repeal of the 8th amendment marked a milestone in women’s access to reproductive rights in Ireland.

While progress has been made, we still have a long way to go to ensure true and equal access to abortion care for all women in Ireland.

“No one should be forced to seek abortion care outside the state” - Clare O’Brien, IFPA

Women in Ireland continue to encounter bureaucratic hurdles that force them to travel for abortions.

Our latest article by @orlaryan.bsky.social examines why and how women still have to travel:
'The most vulnerable are still being exported': Why and how women have to travel for abortions
Hundreds of women travel from Ireland to the UK every year for terminations.

Removing the three-day wait was one recommendation of a review of Ireland’s abortion services by barrister Marie O’Shea BL

She told @investigates.thejournal.ie this wait means some people are “deprived of care – care that they have a statutory right to receive”.

Today is 2 years since The Independent Review of the Health (Regulation of Termination of Pregnancy) Act 2018 was published. Of the MANY recommendations made, Safe Access Zones is the only one that has been implemented.
