In April 1938, Guy Callendar published the first evidence from thermometer observations that the world’s land areas were warming.

He also linked the observed warming to the increase in atmospheric CO₂ from burning coal.

Terrible news today:

This year, one-third of coral cover has been destroyed in two northern sections of the Great Barrier reef due to anthropogenic heating.

Results for the southern sections (which were even hotter) have not been officially released.
