Finally going to ask my translation question, although I expect @zackdavisson.com knows the answer. This has been bugging me for years now. In the first episode of Yamato, the Gamilons demand surrender. Okita responds something like Baka-mei, a phrase i think is in the stupid category...

For valentines day, visited my dad and we watched the new Running Man. Fun was had by all.

Fun movie, violent, but great use of music.

This is something that worries me.
The only reason I am on Social media is to promote myself and my writing.
I can't say I've been successful. Low follower count, no engagement from my posts, for the most part.
Im not sure what else I can do.
Yep. And this has been true for a loooooong time now.

When I pitched my first book to Greg Starr at Kodansha back in 2009, he told me:

"I love the book, but I have no idea who you are. And if I don't know you, I can't sell you. Go start a blog or something. Get known. Get fans. Then come back."
Publishers now look very hard at what the writer has done before they queried an agent. Does the writer have an active fan base? The publisher wants the writer to provide significant marketing assistance. This is thousands of dollars plus hard work.

Very down today. Don't know why I mention it. Its pointless to tell this void.

I have officially begun job hunting.

It occurs to me that even after the war in the Ukraine ends, for years afterwards there will be reports of children finding unexploaded drones.

While I was working my wife had Thanksgiving with her brother. Most of the guests were too ill to attend. The next day the brother's GF tested positive for a new strain of covid, and here I am with a reduced immune system.

The people I work with keep asking me how im doing and say I look sullen.
I think my depression is worse than I thought.

Amen
Though I learned the valuable lessons that we are NOT the country we thought we were, and that some of my neighbors are NOT decent people.
Oh and that "American Christian" is apparently an oxymoron.

I really wanted to see the movie Megalopolis. I was waiting until it landed on a streaming service.

Maybe by releasing the Epstine files he will try to bury his own transgressions under all the fecal matter flying around from all the other people also mentioned in the files.

Just had a doordash delivery.

Am I the only one who comes up with odd thoughts like "What if they dropped off a bomb instead?"

When it comes to forgotten cartoons, everyone knows Pirates of Dark Water.
Well I just found some toys from Xyber 9.
Who remembers that one?

@doomquasar.bsky.social Mt week long vacation is nearly over, and the main thing i wanted to do (write) is the one thing that still hasn't happened!

@ass.golf I used to follow a web comic called Questionable Content before I lost all my links. I don't recall any robots though... but I think there was a coffeehouse of doom???

I never thought I would have one of these. I especially never thought
I would find it in a local used bookstore.

Lot of changes for me. Forced into a demotion at work. Pay cut is going to hurt. My back is killing me.

I'm starting to work on some new writing projects, but dreading the editing on my last one.

You know, I really am a good writer. I'm just not a successful one.

I finally watched Tenant. A very fun movie... it was exercise for the brain, except entertaining

Ok... here's the thing. When you blow up a boat, its gone. Period. No contradictions.

Unlike when you blow up a nuclear site when one General says maybe, and the following week everyone one says it didn't do any actual damage.

It seems nobody has been visiting my website lately. Maybe a new blog post will change that. Something a bit personal this time.
