How might we vote someone into public office that has the live experience, education and or work experience related to the social issues that we’re trying to solve? As long as we keep voting in people who have literally no experience with these, things won’t change.

In Australia, when a tree is illegally cut down, the local government area or council will put up a giant billboard as an eyesore in its place that says “A tree has been vandalized”. That ensures that no one can benefit from removing a tree to improve their view! Sign stays until vegetation regrows.
