a part of me wonders if bringing in troops (either NG or otherwise) doesn't actually constrain DHS somewhat and thus bring the temperature down? Like how confident shoudl the regime be that military is going to work hand in glove with DHS (maybe this is very stupid hopium)

Federal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

I guess the thing with the NG is you better 1) be damn sure you've got their allegiance bc the feds are gonna immeditaely try to federalize and 2) realize that it's probably not wrong at the point that hte NG decides to disobey such federalization to term it a rebellion.
@governorwalz.mn.gov should tell Bovino that they have one hour to turn over the ICE agent. If not, they will be taken by force. And call up the national guard.

The MN strike and rallies seem to have gotten a successful amount of media attention (I think?) and for that reason, in addition to the clear solidarity it's engendered in the participants and signaled to the feds, I was wrong to wonder if it was worth it.

honestly though thinking about the jury nullification issues potentially facing the DOJ, I do wonder if it's only a matter of time before some folks start connecting those dots and, let's say, exploring the studio space to see what they can get away with. I guess it's low on the list of worries tbh

Man I am getting a completely different takeaway from this chart than everyone else. This is a sign that electoral politics isn’t really about policy or messaging, it’s about large groups of people reacting to events. People don’t hear arguments, they see things happening and change their stances.

People have been saying that the admin wants to instigate violence and that may well be right but I think their theory is now stale. I don't think it would be politically beneficial for them given the circumstances. If they were popular it might be a boon but they're not
They know they are producing these images and want to be. Again, either they want to escalate violence or they do not understand humans or both.
