My novel Soap tells the narrative and mystery of Noah. It’s a story of identity, disordered anxiety, and how the experiences of our childhood are present in our lives as adults. It’s inspired by my own life.

I’ve finally bit the bullet and made a #tiktok

I’ll be reading some of my own stories, but I’m also going to be doing reviews of stories I’ve really enjoyed.

My first is a review of #PenguinHighway which was an excellent novel!

I read a book called Penguin Highway that I absolutely loved!

I was so charmed by this book. The premise doesn’t sound like anything special; a housekeeper takes a job taking care of an elderly professor who has an 80 minute memory, but it was just so incredibly written. I cannot recommend it enough! #ogawa #recomendedreading #writinginspiration #readers

I very much agree with the review! Though I didn’t get to the exiting bit 🤣

What changed your mind on it? I gave up before the end 🙈

I feel awful slagging books off. Being a writer myself, it just feels bad. But the book was not good. Also, I love BoJack.

I AM IN THIS! But, more importantly, so are many other excellent writers!
The Table of Contents for our imminent King in Yellow issue is now available. 60 500-word flash fiction pieces and poems about Chambers, Carcosa, and everyone's favorite ocher liege.

We're joined by some new voices this time, and are honored to be able to share two unpublished poems by Joe Pulver.

I don’t like giving negative reviews but this book is nothing like it sounds. New evidence emerges in a 14 year old murder case, and it shocks the country. Except that doesn’t happen. It’s 650 pages of petty office politics. Barely any crime, and zero thrill. #sixfour #crimethriller #currentread

What and incredible and BIZARRE book. Bear follows a woman who feels socially isolated, who further isolates herself by moving to an island on a lake for her work. There she meets a bear, and their relationship becomes… intimate.

Read @chuckpalahniuk.bsky.social Survivor recently and loved it! I was reading it the wrong way for the first 20 pages 🙈 currently re-reading Lullaby and it may be my fave from him!

Read this book a couple of weeks ago. I really like Ness’ style. It’s direct, character driven, and the tensions and traumas stick with you. I’ve read a few, and this isn’t my favourite, but it’s still an excellent #PatrickNess novel.

Recently read this. It was a fantastic sci-fi adventure about an alien invasion. My only critique (and I appreciate it was written yonks ago) was that every female character was describe in ways such as “she was a good woman. Shapely in all the right places.” 🤣

I know it’s hard, but try to remember that no matter how intense that anxiety gets you are okay and it will pass eventually. I’d really recommend @anxietyjosh.bsky.social on social media. Completely changed my mindset on anxiety and agoraphobia. YOU are the safe space. YOU are the coping mechanism ❤️

That’s amazing! What a great city. I struggled with agoraphobia for years (still do a bit), and getting yourself out there is so impressive! ❤️

I try to avoid writing anything too specific unless it’s something I know about. Failing that, asking friends, the internet, etc. can be helpful. If you have anyone who does know, getting them to check it over might help?
