There won't be fans or athletes detained at the world cup and ICE and customs won't be a threat to international travelers during that time. The world cup will be a very pleasant experience for travelers.

I'm surprised we don't yet have announced boycotts of the World Cup, but unless the World Cup goes off totally implausibly and improbably smoothly for international athletes and fans alike, it's hard for me to imagine that the '28 Olympics in LA won't get hit hard with boycotts.
