Safe cat pred with a mouse friend where they both 100% know that the mouse has toxiplasmosis and that it's gonna make the mouse want to hang out with their cat friend more and both are just kinda awkward and blushy about it.

Why are some felines and fluffy dergies just so utterly overpowered to rodentbrains? @3@

Holy shit *thank you for asking this*. I have been going feral for months about the fact that this is not being asked at every single press conference for these companies.
January 8, 2026 at 7:16 AM
Anyway, this is good reporting, thank you for asking the question.

I worry that there's something collectively blinding a huge portion of tech journalism and reporting along the lines of "but they wouldn't do that. They wouldn't ship a product that's going to leak everypony's tax records, they're a respectable company."

No. They can and will do that.
January 8, 2026 at 7:15 AM
You can't go into this shit with an assumption that the companies involved have done ANY due diligence. You can't go into this thinking "of course the product is secure, really my job is just to tell if it's useful."

No, the product is not secure, your job is to correct corporate security lies.
January 8, 2026 at 7:15 AM
And I am both thrilled and incredibly demoralized that this is the first instance I've personally seen of somepony talking about this shit with CES products so far.

Hopefully not the last but like.. how is this not a bigger issue among *dedicated tech reporters*!?
January 8, 2026 at 7:15 AM
The end result is that a lot of consumers believe that prompt injection is either a solved problem that used to exist, or that every prompt injection is like an entirely separate zero-day and defending against it is a normal cat-and-mouse security game.

It's not. It's a big fucking deal.
January 8, 2026 at 7:15 AM
At some point Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, etc figured out that they could respond to security releases about an *unblockable attack* by slightly hardening security around one instance of the attack, doing nothing else, and then just saying "well we patched it."

And reporters just.. repeat it!
January 8, 2026 at 7:15 AM
I have to believe that there was at one point a time where companies like Google, Anthropic, and Perplexity shipping products with known, unfixable zero-days would be kind of a big story that a lot of tech outlets would cover.

That would be kind of a dealbreaker for the products.
January 8, 2026 at 7:15 AM
Every single tech reporter should be asking about this!!

These systems are impossible to secure, and I don't even know how to begin to break down the levels of decay in how this stuff is reported on even from some AI-critical sources.

And it's important reporting because consumers *don't know*!
January 8, 2026 at 7:15 AM
afaik Robert Evans is not specifically a tech reporter, and I just want to draw attention to the fact that Robert Evans knows to ask about fucking prompt injection attacks, and knows that they are unavoidable, and I don't understand why other trained tech reporters don't know this.

#AIBullshit
First CES panel. Intuit CMO Thomas Ranese is proud of his company's integration with OpenAI, which involves giving AI read/write access to tax data. Since prompt injection attacks are unavoidable, I asked him who will be liable when customer data is exposed: Intuit, OpenAI, etc?

He had no idea.

If you've followed https://www.furaffinity.net/user/kitnip/ at all, you might find some small intestine shots that capture a very similar feel - it's always been something that I've admired about their work <3
January 8, 2026 at 3:54 AM

Once I started drawing villus more often, I started to play more with intestines feeling like a forest; this soft area covered in bushes of little wriggly tendrils. Muffled, with similar vibes to something like Fog Canyon in Hollow Knight. A space you can just get lost in.

And as always, *always* remember that you are loved and valued, that you are surrounded by a community that loves and values you, and that anything coming our way is something that we will face together, doing our best to support each other.

It is extremely important that we do not adjust to all of this as normal, but that does not mean you need to drown yourself in it.

Take care of yourself and others so that you'll have the energy to fight this. Be responsive to your own limits. Exhaustion and depression won't make you more useful.

Setting up (at the very least) temporary mute words (or even account mutes) may help. Be aware that tag mutes on Bluesky are not inherited for threads, so muting posts with #politics may not keep the whole thread out of feeds. But please use the politics tag when you post.

Care is not apathy.

Good reminder that "don't look away" does not mean "inundate yourself with trauma until you're paralyzed."

If you need to take breaks to take care of yourself and/or others, if you catch yourself doomspiraling - it is not only moral but necessary for you to take space to avoid that happening.
