John Easthope - Whig MP
Charles Dickens was employed as a Parliamentary reporter and he led a short, successful strike against Easthope in 1836 over the terms of employment of his journalists. Easthope was known as a difficult employer, with the nickname 'Blast-hope'.

The original monument (pictured in 1969) was damaged in the 1987 hurricane and restored in 1992, with funding from the Geologists’ Association. I’m not sure if someone made a mistake when engraving the letters at that time but they are now the same as the original. Thanks for posting.

#31DaysOfGraves day 8 - glass. Arguably the most famous tomb despite its current state, the "Red Lady" (officially the Robertson mortuary chapel) was erected in 1865 for Mary Ann Robertson (1826–1858). The original red glass roof allowed red coloured daylight to flicker on the stone figure inside.

#31DaysOfGraves day 8: glass. I had problems finding a suitable image for this one. I know I have a photo of some stained glass in a mausoleum somewhere on my hard disk, but where? Oh well, this one of Lucy Gallop in West Norwood cemetery, London, shows her photograph behind glass.
