Side note, if the IOC brought in karting as an Olympic sport it would change the world of motorsport so much. I really want it to happen and there's no good reason for it not to.
I do think karting has good theoretical mass appeal. It's more driver-focused (i.e. "relatable"), you can put a track anywhere, and anyone can pop down on a Tuesday night to try their hand for fifty bucks and *directly* compare themselves to a pro.

I've often felt that Brent Spiner as Data is the best acting in TNG
funny Star Trek thing: they cast Brent Spiner as Commander Serious in 1985, then immediately realized that Brent Spiner is a certified S-tier Weird Freak Guy actor, and have spent the past 40 years casting him as a variety of Weird Freak Guys who just happen to look identical to Commander Serious
