For #ForestFriday, I cranked up the saturation and contrast of this hybrid poplar plantation near Boardman, Oregon. The original image was rather dull.

A view looking directly down the rows of planted hybrid poplar trees. They grow exceptionally fast. These trees are probably less than ten years old. I used editing tools to enhance color and contrast. Ground vegetation is yellow, and the tree crowns are a vivid shade of green with hints of yellow.

Every week or so, Narvik finds a New Favorite Hangout Spot. His latest choice is a sleeping bag in the storage room. Narvik is usually easy to find, because his favorite spots are out in the open.

In 1994 I moved from Oregon to Georgia. I took this pic of a bicolored section of Interstate 80, somewhere in Wyoming. The last few times I drove I-80, traffic was so heavy I'd have been risking my life to take such a picture.

Here's another pic of Narvik as a kitten. Yesterday I had a typo - he was a kitten in 2022, not 2002. He will be 4 years old in April. I taught him to use the scratching post by having him chase a shoelace up the post.

Yesterday's pic from Okanogan County, WA, got lots of reposts. The scary side of owning property in such places is wildfire. Here are two views of Dugout Mountain in the early days of the North Star Fire, Aug. 19, 2015.
Late evening sunlight shines on a dry slope with scattered conifer trees. In the distance, smoke rises from an active wildfire on Dugout Mountain and surrounding hills. Same view after sunset. The intense glow of crown fires lights up two areas, while smaller glows are visible elsewhere.

From yesterday's bike ride. New benches have been placed along the paved trail next to the Ocmulgee River. Weather has been very warm for this time of year, and I've done a lot of riding.

This is my favorite trail for riding my bike. It's at the north end of the park and gets less foot traffic than the other trails. A pleasant ride through the trees, next to the river. Macon, Georgia.
