Inspiring talk from @gearsco.de at #ffconf, although… way to make me feel like an underachiever on a Friday afternoon 🤪

Being a dinosaur, and a dinosaur that hasn’t written code for years… at the start of this talk I was just thinking “why not just use Plain Old Semantic HTML?”
But, I think I get it… this is good stuff. And I do love a design system.

Zarro Boogs Found!

Funny what pops into your head when you're busy doing nothing. This lunchtime it was the old zarro boogs message from Bugzilla. Who remembers using that for bug tracking before Jira?
Simpler, arguably happier times

The ADHD Taskforce report is finally out.

We called what it needed to contain a month ago: national standards, fair shared care, real ownership.

First look: some movement, still too many gaps.

Reports don’t fix systems. Continuity does.

The final barrier from our ADHD Awareness Month campaign: lack of national ownership, accountability, and strategy.

Without this, barriers stay stuck locally.

Our blog post explains why national ownership is the only way to change the system.

Does anyone ever cull their contacts on their phone? I’m just going through mine, I’ve got people in there from a job I left 18 years ago, a couple of dead people and some that I have no idea who they are.
I’m not going to delete them though, I’m not a psychopath

Spotted this on a dog walk a couple of days ago. The Royal Mail site didn’t immediately offer any clues. Apparently it’s this www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Glad I can stop obsessively checking for the iOS 26 public beta now, just waiting for it to download. Hoping it won’t brick my phone. I mean, I’m sure it won’t, but still…

My feed has gone way too sportsy for my liking this evening, which prompted me to check whether Bluesky offered keyword blocking like the bird site does. Turns out it does…

A thread on Threads this morning was talking about being old enough to remember FTPing directly to live, which got me reminiscing. Now the mental scars of battling Visual SourceSafe have resurfaced.

Just accidentally watched season 1 episode 1 of Star Trek: Strange New worlds instead of season 3 episode 1.
I thought it seemed familiar, but I mostly spent 50 minutes confused why none of the crew seemed to know each other 🤦🏻‍♂️

Apple TV+ has some pretty decent shows at the moment. I just finished Your Friends & Neighbours with the Mrs, Murderbot is good fun, I’m behind with Slow Horses but just blitzed season 3 on a flight. What I really want now is For All Mankind season 5

I’ve been a Douglas Adams fan for longer than I can remember. The radio plays and books were instrumental in how I came to view the world.
I’ve just finished listening to this audiobook www.audible.co.uk/pd/B0F8KLK7Y3 which I backed on Kickstarter. It reminded how much I miss him. Have a listen

Just woke up from a pretty stressful dream about everyone’s phones & routers getting knocked out by EMPs from nukes.

Does anyone else have a default earworm, something that rattles around your brain when there's nothing else going on?

I just listend to "Source Code" by Bill Gates on Audible. It's an interesting listen, narrated by Will Wheaton. I lost count of the number of times he said "8080" or "basic". Old nerds and computer historians will enjoy it

I have some spherical footage shot on a Kodak pixpro sp30. They're MP4 files which I would like to edit on my Mac. There does not seem to be an easy way to do it. Any suggestions?

So far this morning I've had notifications from Costa and Toby Carvery telling me it's my birthday in a week's time.
I don't need reminding, thanks.
