Meanwhile Instagram keeps sending me ads for merch for my ex’s Alma mater.
1. I haven’t searched for it
2. I haven’t been to that state in forever.

This happened to me. My Facebook account got hacked in 2017. Facebook was zero help in getting it back. They ultimately deleted it.
I lost virtually every picture I took from 2005-2012.
Heartbreaking to say the absolute least.

Seriously. You don't want to lose access to an account and have years of your life just gone forever. Bring back albums! Have something for the next generation to stumble across and flip through.
Print your pictures! Keep evidence that you existed.
