Yesterday's global sea-surface temperature of 21.05°C was about 4.62 standard deviations above the 1982-2011 mean (first 30 years of data), or about 1-in-520,000 just by chance.

I expect temperatures to reach their seasonal peak in roughly 2 weeks.
