Watterson has explicitly said that he saw how Davis sold out on Garfield and thought it was absolutely disgusting, so he refused to ever license Calvin and Hobbes out.
it really can’t be overstated how huge calvin and hobbes were when i was growing up and the fact that we still have not seen a grotesque cgi animated movie featuring the voices of ariana grande and chris hemsworth is a minor miracle.
God fucking bless Bill Watterson for never selling out or we’d be subjected to Calvinball: The Movie starring Michael Cera as Calvin and Will Ferrell as Hobbes
