“X must be held accountable. But I now have to ask, why are so many people still there? Why are MPs still posting there? Why are organs of the British government still using a site one of its own ministers just condemned in such clear moral and legal terms? Why are other governments?”

Stay aware, alert, and prepared.

Iceout.org is an informative site where you can see real time witness reports of ICE and their locations: observed, active, and critical.

It is more important than ever to share these resources. Do not ignore what is happening.

Wolves are often framed as a polarizing issue, despite widespread support. New research shows political identity can increase division, even when people agree.

Finding common ground and recognizing shared support for wolves may be key to protecting their future.

Americans generally like wolves − except when we’re reminded of our politics
New research shows how identity-driven assumptions can turn common ground into conflict.

I got a new box of litho film and tweaked my developer recipe. The contrast and density on this negative were almost too much to scan. It developed in 20 minutes, but I gave it 25, and that was a little much. I may have accidentally fogged my old box.

After messing with this a little more, I'm zeroing in on something like this:

500 mL water (distilled or filtered)
20 g Na2CO3.10H2O
4.0 g vanillin
6.0 g ascorbic acid

The dev time is about like so:

Arista Ortho Litho 3.0: 5 min
Ilford HP5+: 30 min
Fuji Acros 100II: 30 min
So it turns out vanilla works great as a fine-grained, high contrast developer. This was 5 minutes in 1%w/w aqueous vanillin with probably 3-5%w/w sodium carbonate. I still need to work out the relationship between reduction potential and pH, but I didn't expect it to just work on the first go.

Emotional distance and ignorance can drive hyperrealization. Without reference to the real keeping them grounded, self-absorbed worldviews like these devolve into the absurd. It's like conceptual Habsburg-ization. I suspect bigotry works the same way, but driven by Sade's "passions" instead.
Highland Park is a controlled sanctuary for America’s aristocracy, where they let the rest of us in occasionally, like fifth graders touring a zoo.
