In 1616, Artemisia Gentileschi became the first woman admitted to Florence’s Accademia delle Arti del Disegno. Her recognition challenged gender barriers in professional art and helped pave the way for women to be acknowledged as serious painters. #ArtHistory

Next year's artists signed contracts to perform at "The Kennedy Center for Performing Arts." Since a venue with that name no longer exists, and one with a very division name many artists would not wish to be associated with does, they should be able to get out of their contracts.

Jean Labre - Prévol [library jazz-fusion, French private press] (1981) Extremely rare French LP privately released in 1981, not available on streaming. “Prévol” is the A2 track, a cosmic jazz-fusion piece with vintage Air France vibes. Found this vinyl recently and wanted to preserve it digitally.

Y'know what. They're right. Chuck Redd should not have cancelled his performance. But the performance should be him playing chromatic scales on a trumpet one octave at a time and shouting fuck you between each scale. That's real avant garde jazz there! #chuckredd

Actually, it's exactly the duty of an artist. To take a stand through their art.
"Any artist cancelling their show at the Trump Kennedy Center over political differences isn't courageous or principled—they are selfish, intolerant, and have failed to meet the basic duty of a public artist: to perform for all people"- Kennedy Center spokesperson Roma Daravi
Kennedy Center vows to sue musician who canceled performance over Trump name change

In 1967, Sol LeWitt published Paragraphs on Conceptual Art, arguing that ideas—not objects—could be the artwork itself. The text redefined authorship and process, reshaping how contemporary art is made, taught, and understood. #ArtHistory
