Thank you. Not sure if I should tag y'all but I see you. 🙏💚

Fwiw this lets us contribute back to MA, too, which ngl, makes me feel a shit ton better.
So if any of you who aren't struggling w/ groceries or bills want to contribute to feeding discarded cats or rebuilding overlogged forests, we're opening donations

I'll make a post on the farm account soon, but we do need help to continue:

My invitation remains open to all #adopted, displaced, trafficked, stolen, bought-and-sold people—anyone who accepts (not necessarily happily) the designation “adoptee”—to be added to my starter pack. Just let me know!

Here’s hoping we’ll play a little less Bingo here! (h/t @bekhenson.bsky.social)

the choices disabled people have to make that no one else thinks about are a lot. There are so many mental gymnastics, and things to consider that seem unfathomable to others. For instance, do you know how much work goes into me making other people feel comfortable around me? Probably not.

Alright y'all I can't put it off any longer.

We're on one income that just got cut two weeks ago, we're always flirting with losing everything bc of taxes, and I'm out here doing shit that needs to be done, namely taking care of pets other people ditched and rewilding.

Since I've gained some new followers, let's keep going with #NAAM facts. Did you know that ten states use TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) money for "Alternatives to Abortion" programs, including campaigns to promote adoption, rather than food and housing for families in poverty? 🥚

On #adoption terminology: a treacherous terrain.

I always prefer “lose a child to adoption”, but I will occasionally use “relinquish,” despite connotations of agency.

I *never* say “place a child for adoption.” That is industry propaganda.

It’s like saying “placing a home for foreclosure.”

I'm sure I'm gonna get blocked but it sure is something to see y'all understand family separation is a threat enough to make a "joke".

Fwiw these are the adoption "jokes" I refer to when I say they fuel adoptees' 4x higher suicide rate.

We see you. We hear you.

We know what you think of us.

How Stevie Nicks responds to mask-shaming 🔥

"I dare anybody to give me a dirty look. I would just say, 'Hey, you know what? I’m Stevie Nicks. And if I get sick, my entire thing goes down. Forty families are out of work. So that’s why I have a mask on, asshole.'"

Readers of Gretchen Sisson’s Relinquished, and of the work of #adoptee -rights activists, will know that the idea of entitlement to children and to the status of parenthood drives an entire industry devoted to making vulnerable women into breeders of children for others. The idea is ingrained.

Housing people is cheaper than treating the effects of people being unhoused

Free school lunches are cheaper than the consequences of children being hungry

Free medical care is cheaper than the costs of people being sick

Universal Basic Income increases productivity and makes people happy
So weird how as soon as the pandemic started it became very immediately clear that things like socialized medicine and giving people money so children don’t starve actually work really well but now that it’s been a couple years we have to all pretend we didn’t notice that

RIP Florence Fisher, an adoptee who fought relentlessly to restore adoptees’ identity rights, founding ALMA (the Adoptees Liberty Movement Association), and who once “dressed as a nun to sneak into the records room of a Roman Catholic adoption agency.” 🔥

Long COVID is real.

Long COVID is not rare.

Vaccines offer limited protection against long COVID.

Paxlovid reduces your risk of long COVID.

Repeat infections make long COVID more likely.

There is no standard treatment for long COVID.

The best prevention against long COVID is not getting COVID.

Hey so reminder that referring to both pets and children with the same marketing language is one of the reason adoptees (the human ones) commit/attempt suicide at 4x higher rates.

If you have used 23andMe - or any similar site - change your password and turn on two factor authentication (2FA) NOW.

If 23andMe’s explanation of what has happened (a user-side credential exploit) is true, there’s no way of knowing yet if the current theft includes your data, or is still active. 🧪
“The initial data leak was… 1 million lines of data for Ashkenazi people.”

“The information… includes full names, usernames, profile photos, sex, date of birth, genetic ancestry results, and geographical location.”

Well, that’s surely not going to be a fucking problem. (sarcastically)

Genetics firm 23andMe says user data stolen in credential stuffing attack
23andMe has confirmed to BleepingComputer that it is aware of user data from its platform circulating on hacker forums and attributes the leak to a credential-stuffing attack.
