Science/biology nerd🔬, actual liberal☮, ecomodernist🌎, urbanist #YIMBY🏙, nuclear power activist☢️, global warming-concerned🌡️, with muscular dystrophy♿.
I would literally love to be a genetic engineer. A noble profession. Also, pesticides and synthetic fertilizer are based. Organic is a scam. Everyone should visit an industrial crop farm, and personally thank a farmer for hyper-abundant and affordable food.

Nothing beats safe, clean, vibrant, walkable, dense urban living. This spot on Santa Fe street in #Denver is blocks away from a light rail station. Just add more traffic calming measures and this area is perfect. A #YIMBY world is a wealthy and abundant world. Suburbs are hell.

We can eventually build AP-1000s for $3B per reactor, in less than five years, killing all incentive to build wind/solar/fossil electricity generation.

Climate scientists should love glyphosate because it is low toxicity and allows us to grow more crops with less tillage that keep massive amounts of new carbon dioxide out of the air.

Anti-nuclear power people drive me nuts, because none of them actually know fucking anything about what nuclear waste is, how safe it is to store, or what the ecological impact of having it nearby would be.

- or Covid-19...

...People who disagree most with the scientific consensus know less about the topic, but they think they know more.

Please inform yourself on nuclear fuel cycles and recycling of spent nuclear fuel. Nuclear "waste" can be obliterated for more clean electricity and disappear from the universe forever. You just sound cringe and uneducated. Anti-nukes tend not to know much about nuclear power.

Awesome actually.
folks, we’re bringing back nuclear power to achieve this level of quality

Hey @jessedjenkins.com, I do actually care about you and your work. You are a heavily credentialed expert. I'm super happy you are pro-nuke publicly. I just think certain facts about nuclear should stand out to you to make it the keystone of the energy transition. That's all.

Nuclear waste is a non-issue invented by anti-nuclear activists to kill a miraculous, planet-saving, poverty-killing technology.

The best way to #decarbonize the #electric #grid is to make large, carbon-free #NuclearPower facilities and pipe constant electricity far and wide with power lines. Multiple gigawatts at a time. #Wind and #solar are weak. #Nuclear is strong. France did it decades ago. Saying we can’t is a LIE.

Finally getting around to reading a paper from the New England grid operator, packed with goodies.

1) The marginal contribution of new wind & solar capacity falls off a cliff as you add more

2) Cost of carbon abatement skyrockets

3) Nuclear plants significantly reduce system cost

The developed and industrial West needs to decarbonize first, and then export clean energy tech to vulnerable and underdeveloped countries at a major discount. Also pushing energy austerity on struggling nations is unethical and immoral.

Nothing specific is really bringing this to mind, but casual reminder that there is no legitimate clean energy plan for the future that does not include nuclear power in it.

Especially with all the advances in nuclear technology to make it less wasteful.
