Nowhere in the hysterical pile-on against the BBC in the British press has anyone mentioned that BBC News now has 77 million viewers & listeners in the US and has established itself as the second most trusted news source there.

Desperately miss living in London - brilliant city, and some of the best years of my life 🥰.
That said - I couldn’t bear to move away from the sea now 🥲
A heart torn in two 💔🌊
“There are some people who hate London, and hate New York,” Mayor Sadiq Khan told me, on Bloomberg TV. “There's a reason why they demonize London, and now, indeed, New York. Why? Because we are progressive cities. We are liberal cities. We are multicultural cities. And we are incredibly successful.”

A woman is killed by a man every 3 days in the UK...

78% are murdered by a partner/ex

Yet not once have I heard Reform talk about this

Not once have I heard them back measures to protect women’s safety

In fact, they voted against them...

I now want to know if a cat caught and ate the rat…? 🐈‍⬛
These videos of a rat hunting and eating bats will haunt my dreams.

The bathroom refit is now nearly 4 weeks in - and I’m getting cold. At the start, I casually said we could manage without heating for the two weeks it was going to take - but I am really, really hoping that today is the day the radiator finally goes in 😬.
[NB Cat possibly even less happy than me].

Still remember several from my youth, plus husband’s mobile (we’ve kept the same numbers since 1996). And I insisted my 21st century kids memorise both of our mobiles in case they ever get caught in a bad situation without their own phones.
If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.

I’ve loved the @divinecomedyhq.bsky.social for decades (Blimey! That makes me sound/feel old!), but last night was the first time I’ve seen them live. Also the first time I’ve been in the London Barbican Hall. Both were immensely impressive 🥰. Well worth the trip from Plymouth :)

I can barely contain my excitement at having tickets for their London show this Saturday 😱

In the meantime, I’m working very hard on resisting my urge to sing along with everything in a really annoying fashion 😬

Ah! I remember the heady, early days of Amazon UK (1998!), the amazing online bookshop that gave me access to out-of-print books I’d been seeking for years ☺️📚. I properly loved the company.
How sad that they turned to world domination via enshittification 🥲

Can’t believe it’s been 5 years since @theboxplymouth.bsky.social opened! Must admit to being a sceptic in the early days - but it has been a brilliant addition to our city, both as an eye-catching landmark I walk past daily, and as a cultural centre 🥰🎉

On Yom Kippur many Jewish people in Britain have their phones off to mark the holy day.

As it ends at 723pm, some will hear the tragic Manchester news for the first time.

At that time, please join many of us to send a message of solidarity to British Jews. Thanks Together coalition for proposing.

This boy is very VERY unhappy about the loud destructive noises of workmen ripping out his bathroom 😬. Sitting near me in the “office” (3 weeks of wfh to supervise the destruction/construction) is not as calming as he’d like 🥲

It’s truly baffling to me that so many of these stories focus on “wow big fish” and not “this is an IUCN Red List Critically Endangered species that is extremely physiologically fragile and often does not survive fishing practices like this”

Really enjoyed the @lukejerram.bsky.social #Helios exhibit today - fabulous art installation, based on over 400,000 images of the sun’s surface and inspired by NASA’s solar observations - thanks to @nationaltrust.org.uk for bringing it to #Plymouth.

Loved this BBC R4 piece on the chough, and its connection with the lore of the Celtic nations. I hadn’t realised that they had been gone from Cornwall for years - but have now established themselves. In fact, we saw a group on the Lizard this summer (poor photo apology) www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Bit damp in Plymouth last night… 😱🙄💧

And lots of flood debris visible around the city centre today.
The weather sensor on our roof recorded a whopping 46.79mm of rain between 10pm & 11pm last night!
