I’ve also heard from multiple acting agents that private equity buyouts make their job unpleasant. The agency bloats into a blob of sports, digital, presenting, & talent to maximise ROI for the investors. Clear mission gets lost. New bosses don’t know anything about acting, just line go up
acting industry friends know if they buy me a couple drinks I’ll start ranting about how many acting agencies are up to their eyeballs in private equity and won’t survive the coming recession. If they bet the farm on AI too it’d be another good reason to steer clear, IMO

People misuse the word "gaslighting" often, so let me be clear: "gaslighting" is literally what my phone does to me regularly. I'll be squinting at it and eventually realize it has turned down the screen brightness, presumably to enhance battery life but actually to make me think I'm going blind.
