And also better medical treatments means that more people survive what would have been fatal illnesses and accidents not long ago. But not rarely they are left with some disabilities or chronic illnesses. From babies born prematurely to cancer, strokes, brain injuries and so on.
Benefits

There has barely been any increase in the number of people claiming benefits if you take into account population growth, aging population, increase in morbidity & pension age rising so it include more people

Not the narrative you hear in media

The only concession that needs to be made on the PIP cuts is throwing them in the bin.

The Government should make the tough choice of going after their rich billionaire donors.

A decision that will actually be hard for them.

It sounds familiar...
This has always been the GOP's strategy:

1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves.

2) Explode deficits

3) Use the debt as an excuse to demand cuts to vital programs that help millions.

4) Repeat.

At first glance, it might seem fair that you need 4 points to qualify for PIP. But we all know the truth, many sick and disabled people are already denied the support they need because of incompetent and cruel assessors.

I’m sorry, the DWP announcing “don’t worry, the benefits u-turn means only 150,000 people will be pushed into poverty now!” is just insane. Cruel, incompetent ghouls who shouldn’t be allowed to run a bath let alone a system sick people rely on to live.

The “welfare reform bill” is out and let’s be clear: this is not reform - it is devastating cuts. Disabled people will be made poorer, sicker, and more isolated as a result. That it is a Labour government causing this misery will be a mark of shame on the party for years to come.

There are 650 MPs and after the GE 411 of them were Labour. A huge majority.

I'm actually extremely disappointed that only about 10% of them are saying disability cuts are impossible to support.

Quite shocking really.

It’s time we stand up, not to demand new rights, but to defend the ones we already have. Rights that were hard-won are now under threat.

No one else is going to fight this battle for us.
We owe it to ourselves, and to every generation that struggled before us, not to stay silent.
