Buttons are back. Knobs are back. Dumb devices are back. Own-it-forever software is back. Print is back. Personal websites and chronological feeds are back. Touching grass is back. People keep saying 2015, but it’s not far enough. The entire 2010s were a mistake. We must retvrn to… 2009.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

I see a lot of complaints about untested AI slop in pull requests. Submitting those is a dereliction of duty as a software engineer: Your job is to deliver code you have proven to work simonwillison.net/2025/Dec/18/...
Your job is to deliver code you have proven to work
In all of the debates about the value of AI-assistance in software development there’s one depressing anecdote that I keep on seeing: the junior engineer, empowered by some class of …

Oh good, thank you @emanuelmaiberg.bsky.social for writing on the weird AI generated descriptions of posts now happening in Google search.

This has been driving me nuts specifically with the gay dom-com Pillion, whose trailers are getting described as “a woman expressed her devotion to a man” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Okay archaeologists / egyptologists, I’m curious - is this a legally sellable item by Goodwill?

Buyers seem to be betting on it being genuine. And the AI description boldly says “The artifact appears crafted in a historical period and exhibits cultural significance”

Thanks @blackgirlbytes.bsky.social for writing about the impact nursing stations can make at conferences 🍼
We ask why are there no women in leadership? or why are there no women speaking at this conference.

The lack of nursing rooms at conference is a contributing factor..imo #blogvent

Here's a blog post about my alarming, but naive experience

Google takes me to a pre-written Gemini AI Mode prompt of me asking AI for a cooking plan.

No! No! I want the little felt Chef to tell me their secrets!!

AI art sneaks in when your heart is closed to folk art, to children’s art, to your own art. I know what it feels like to say “I couldn’t draw this, so it’s okay to have a computer do it” - but what part of yourself are you choosing to abandon because it’s not “good” enough?
