Independent shop for new & used books in Greenfield, MA. Established 1994 but under new ownership since September 2019.
A lot of people were out in Greenfield last night. Fun night.
Working at the store. Customer said “it’s a beautiful night” and I was anticipating “beautiful store” so I said “thank you” and with that I took credit for the weather.

Covered a 4-hour shift at @federalstbooks.bsky.social today. In my modestly sized town, we sold out of the Constitution, sold 2 copies of Common Sense, and I lent some packing tape to a guy who needed to repair his inflatable dinosaur.

I think what disappoints me about Banned Books Week is that it's a campaign of bottled awareness that disappears the other 51 weeks of the year. We are supposed to react with shock and dismay when we learn books are banned. What we need are anger and refusal.
Just a reminder that Banned Books Week isn’t about selling more copies of 1984. It’s about keeping authors and teachers and librarians safe and making sure all of us have the freedom to read widely. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...
Children’s Authors on the Real-World Cost of Book Banning

Fellow authors, I love you, and I know it feels like we don’t have a choice, but B&N and Am*zon both scheduled sales this week to preempt Independent Bookstore Day, a hugely vital source of income for indie bookstores. Please don’t promote their sales; please promote your local indie this week.

Starting today, get your ebooks from @bookshop-org.bsky.social and support indies! We desperately need to update our Bookshop storefront, but you can search and buy anything there, and those dollars make a big difference for us.

Very much a fan of books that fit in a hoodie pocket.
Should we... should we start a line of mass market paperback editions?
My latest free time (hah, what's that?) obsession is mocking up mass market paperback editions for some of Shortwave's titles. This is still a work-in-progress, obviously, but look at how chonky that spine would be!
