Spoiler alert: it's better to have a good theoretical understanding and design appropriate statistical models than it is to throw zillions of superficially "okay, fine" models at a poorly specified (and often deliberately vague) target.

A bit of good thinking >>> lots of poor thinking.

Shocking!

This is also a long known problems in entomological collections - collectors do not want the common species, they accumulate the rare species ....
Large citizen science datasets are powerful tools for biodiversity science, but they may have biases. Nice new paper from @louisbackstrom.bsky.social et al. showing that for eBird and Birdtrack lists there is a tendency for rare species to be over-represented

Check out our new paper on the drivers of hedgy biodiversity 🌱🦗🐞🕷️
Life at the (h)edge—Multidiversity in shrub ecotones is driven by habitat quality & shrub foliage cover 🌱🌏

To maximise biodiversity benefits across taxa, recommends managing shrub ecotones at the landscape scale, maintaining a mosaic of open & half-open shrub ecotones 📈🧪
